High School Reunion Ideas – 10 Steps to a Fun and Memorable Event

Planning a high school reunion? Here are some reunion ideas to help you plan the perfect get together, whether you’re setting up one night of fun or a whole week’s full of adventures.

Class reunions are really exciting events. You get to meet up with classmates that you may not have seen for years as a lot of them have moved away from the old neighborhood to different cities, counties or states. Some of them may have even moved out of the country since graduating.

Maybe you’ve lost touch with a lot of your old classmates, even if it’s only been ten years since graduation. A lot of alumni may only see their old classmates at a class reunion so planning one that makes sure these alumni will keep coming back takes some good advanced planning.

So where do you start? Well, here are some planning ideas to help, starting with how to find all of those former classmates now that you’ve been out of touch for a while.

  1. Find some former classmates to help with planning a class reunion. Planning takes a lot of work but it doesn’t have to be stressful, especially if you can locate and “hire” some assistance from your old pals. And with today’s technology, not only can you find a lot of your old classmates through social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Classmates.com for example. And with the help of Facebook and free websites, you can even do a lot of the planning online as well. Once you find a few enthusiastic classmates with some good reunion ideas, start assigning out tasks such as…
    • finding those elusive classmates and getting email and physical addresses for invitations.
    • having someone look for a venue that’s large enough so you don’t have to worry about the size of the guest list later on.
    • planning a format for entertainment like music, games, etc.
    • making name tags for your classmates. This may come in handy if people have changed as they’ve aged.
    • planning a menu, keeping in mind that you may need a really wide variety to accommodate different diets like gluten free or diabetic. You want everyone to have some nice choices for their meals.
    • high school reunion ideas for decorations. This can be in the form of banners, posters, streamers, balloons, table decorations, etc. You might even decide to center it around a theme like the year you graduated high school.
  2. Location! Location! Location! Choosing where to have your reunion is extremely important for a couple of reasons:
    • Your former classmates may have to travel quite a distance to attend so you want a place that’s close to hotel accommodations for your long-distance buddies.
    • Size matters when it comes to planning a high school reunion location, especially if you had a large graduating class and you manage to get most of them to attend. And if they bring their spouse, significant other, partner or what have you, that’s twice the size of your class so you need to make sure the room or space is large enough to comfortably accommodate the amount people you expect to attend.
    • Price plays a role in the venue you choose. You don’t want to price anyone out of attending so your high school reunion ideas for choosing a location should definitely include price shopping for the best value. For example, if you find a hotel with a nice large room that’s often used for wedding receptions, maybe they’ll give you a discount if you book it early or give bulk discounts if X amount of guests book a room for the night at the same time.
  3. Plan months – if not years – ahead. You think you need to give plenty of notice to wedding guests? The exact “rules” apply for a high school class reunion. So one of the high school reunion ideas is to make sure you set the date out far enough for long distance classmates to plan their schedules accordingly. Some may have to take vacation time, hire sitters, board pets and save money to make the trip. High school reunion invitations should be fun and – well – inviting. Add a list of all of the classmates you’re inviting and if you have their permission, include their emails too. Add a list of alumni you haven’t been able to locate through normal channels and ask the invitees to get back to you if they know where any of the missing can be found.
  4. Use social networking sites like Facebook Groups to help give your classmates a head’s up about the upcoming reunion and to help locate your long lost high school pals. You can even set up a free website or forum to get the ball rolling plus ask for more high school reunion ideas from future attendees.
  5. Ask for donations. High school reunion planning can turn out to be pretty expensive, probably almost as much as a wedding reception when you really think about it. But don’t be nervous about asking your former classmates for a little monetary assistance to get done what needs to be done to make the reunion successful. One of the most helpful high school reunion ideas to help defray upfront costs is to make sure the reunion is “by invitation only” and sell the tickets well ahead of time. These funds can be used to pay for decorations, caterers, venue deposits, entertainment and favors or gift bags for the guests.
  6. Hire a photographer. You’ll want lots of pictures of your old classmates and even a new class portrait to commemorate this event. To cut costs here, check with your high school or community college to see if any of the students in photography classes would like to make some money. You’ll get really good photos and help another student in the process.
  7. Roll out the red carpet. Just like celebrity entrances, have your guests enter on a red carpet with the photographer taking their picture as they enter.
  8. Play music from your year of graduation. You can do this a couple of ways. When you check your high school or community college for photographers, ask around for music students or groups of students who have a band who’d be interested in playing at the reunion. Another option, if you have a local School of Rock, these kids would love the opportunity to show off their talents at an event like a high school class reunion. My nephew attends the School of Rock in Exton, PA and we’ve been to several of their “garage band concerts” and these kids have talent!
  9. Make up name tags for your former classmates. This will come in handy for those people who really look nothing like they did in high school.
  10. Gift bags or swag bags for favors. High school reunion ideas call for getting creative and nostalgic while being practical and fun at the same time. Like with any party favors, you can put together edible favors, useful favors, funny or gag favors or things that remind you of the year you graduated.

Custom laminated bookmarks make great favors because you can create them with different quotes on each one. Your classmates can share and swap them for their favorite quotes and photos. You can find quotes for your bookmarks just about anywhere and some suggestions are song lyrics from the top songs during the high school era and quotes from the backs of the yearbooks. Add magnets to the backs of the bookmarks. Magnets are always useful and fun favors for any party. In fact, you can use even us laminated bookmarks to mail out Save the Date notices to your classmates letting them know to “bookmark the date” on their calendars and watch for the invitations to come in the mail.

Hopefully these high school reunion ideas will help you with planning a high school reunion that all your classmates will love and look forward to for years to come.

Kleer Wireless Technology

Many people are familiar with and use Bluetooth wireless technology. This technology comes installed in many phones, mp3 players and other electronic devices. For people that want to get rid of the wires on their mp3 though there is a much better alternative. Kleer wireless technology has many advantages over Bluetooth for listening to music. So let us explore what these might be.

Kleer technology was developed specifically to come up with a better way of transmitting music wirelessly. The biggest issue with Bluetooth is its lack of fidelity. Kleer has succeeded quite well in this regard. The transmission and reception is CD quality digital sound. This is light years ahead of Bluetooth, which can only do as well as 320kbps/s. Most of the time, with most Bluetooth devices, this optimal is rarely even approached. Kleer does not suffer any loss of quality for most audio recordings.

There were other issues that were also nicely resolved by this new wireless protocol. The channel that Kleer uses (RF-based) is not subject to interference or drops that can happen with other wireless devices. Transmissions are clear and they stay that way.

One cool feature is that up to four users can listen to the same wireless transmission. This is not likely to matter much to most people but it does open us some interesting possibilities for using the technology.

A really big bonus that goes along with the clear channel reception is the systems power use. Kleer uses fewer channels than Bluetooth to transmit its signal. This saves power which means you can go longer between charges. Kleer can also pack in more in a smaller space since it can reduce the size of the batteries needed to power earbuds or the transmitter. The technology also adjusts power use according to its detection of how far the sound needs to be sent to the receiver.

The final kicker is the distance and robustness of the signal being sent. The technology has the capability of being sent over much greater distances than Bluetooth, which breaks up over extremely short ranges. With Kleer you can easily walk around a large room with a stationary device in one central location having no trouble delivering quality sound to your wireless device.

So why isn’t Kleer everywhere yet? One problem is that the technology is relatively new. The manufacturer (Kleer) guards its protocol tightly and with its tight control over a great new sound delivery system, they are able to charge a lot for its use. So the price point for its use is currently over 100 dollars. As time goes on and more devices offer Kleer it is possible the price will come down.

8 Facts About the Best SEO Companies

Any industry, any field, has its leaders. That is also true for IT and all its branches. Thinking about it will, for example, easily highlight a host of facts that will show why certain companies stand out above the competition.

Because it is the job of a good SEO or search engine optimization company to make sure your website ranks among the top ones in terms of hits, the first thing to consider would be: How does my site rate in terms of hits, when compared to other clients’ sites?

An interesting fact seems to indicate that the best or top search results on SERP’S – the results page – receive by far the most hits. Indications are that a small group of clients get up to 80% of hits. That in itself is a great compliment for the company that is able to position his clients to attract so much traffic.

Secondly, you will find that, apart from content that you offer on your site, page titles are the most important aspect of your site. Therefore, if you work with an experienced SEO company, they will make sure they advise you in this regard so that you pay attention to this crucial bit of evidence.

Thirdly, when important facts are considered, another question arises: Does my service know that close to 80% of SEO happens online, with the remainder off-line, in terms of attracting links and positioning the words for the content of my material in a way that visitors will find them easily? Your service should therefore know how to include those words in important spots on the page.

Another of these facts concerns the content your site or pages carry. The SEO company should help you, or advise you at the very least, how to come up with content that searchers are looking for. These links are important in terms of the traffic that is created to your site.

At number five you can add that certain issues such as the topics you offer on your site or blog, become crucial and you will know why it is important to employ the services of a company that understands what the facts are. They should be able to advise you, as the client, that this is an important aspect. Without relevant topics and material that searchers want, you may soon find that there is little traffic to your site.

In the sixth place: An experienced SEO company understands factual indicators. If you are looking for the most important facts you will know that the top activities across the whole spectrum of internet use indicate that search, followed by email, are the top internet functions for most people. You should employ the services of a company that understands that.

Very importantly, at number seven: When you consider the most appropriate indicators, you will find that IT and the internet are constantly changing and what was relevant a few years ago no longer applies, or has lost some of its relevance. Your SEO company should understand that and constantly try to find ways to work for your benefit in an ever changing environment.

Lastly: When you consider the important issues – and maybe the most important one of all- you should always keep in mind that a company that does not spend time understanding the needs of your business, is probably not good enough to work for you. The good SEO companies will take time to establish what the client’s aims are, what they want to achieve in terms of not only site traffic, but generally speaking in terms of the business that they run.

Voice Over Microphones – How to Choose the Best One For You and Your Budget

The biggest mistake voice over artists make – and that includes some professionals – is using the wrong microphone. It can wreck your work. If you market yourself on Voice123.com or Voices.com, the wrong microphone will insure you do not get hired, or if you do, that you will not get hired by that same person again.

Here we'll look at the three types of microphones most often used, their strengths and weaknesses, cost, and how to determine which one (s) to go for.

We'll talk about the types, then look at specific brands, models, and prices.

Before we start, the most important thing I can say to you is that your microphone is the most important part of your entire audio chain, no exceptions. You can have the most fabulous gear in the world downstream from the mic, but if the mic does not cut it, it does not really matter about the rest of that gear. On the other hand, a terrific microphone followed by average-priced gear will give you a superior audio product.

What are you looking to do? Are you looking for a mic that's smooth and sweet, or hard-edged and in-your-face? Are you male or female? If you want to do movie trailers and screaming car dealer ads, you need a different mic than if you're doing "guy or girl next door" – realistic – voice work, or standard announce voice work. Here are the types of mics to consider:

Dynamic

Dynamic microphones are what you see in radio stations and are what live vocalists (singers) most often use. They're rugged, reasonably good-sounding, and okay for most voices, meaning one might not sound absolutely fabulous on your particular voice, but it will not sound awful, which is not true of other types, including some very expensive microphones. A dynamic also is not nuanced. The part that pics up your voice, the diaphragm, is connected to a coil of wire; air movement from sound makes the coil move between the poles of a magnet. The sound has to overcome the mass of the coil, and very small sounds do not get through.

This does not make them bad. Rush Limbaugh's Golden EIB microphone is a dynamic, and, again, most radio stations use them. They are good general-purpose mics, and many voice over pros use them. They are equally good for male and female voices, and you can do most any type of style with them.

If you're on a budget, a dynamic is the only choice, because the other two cost a lot more for ones that are worth it. There are cheap versions of the other two, and you do not want one!

So if dynamics are so useful, why spend more for a condenser or ribbon?

Condenser

A condenser microphone, of which there are two types, transistor and tube ("valve" in Europe), does not have the moving coil of wire attached to its diaphragm. It modifies an electrical current generated by an external power supply (found in most computer interfaces or with an external power supply, see your dealer for info, or internal batteries). Without the mechanical resistance of a dynamic mic's coil to overcome, a condenser is far more sensitive to nuance, and therefore sounds much more intimate.

Condensers come in two flavors: transistor and tube. A tube condenser, which is an expensive instrument (there are cheap ones and they make good paperweights but not microphones), is almost always the very best way to go. They sound very intimate and full, and have a great up-front sound without being aggressive. They are quite subject to problems from non-vocal speech components – 'f', 's', 'p' – and require a pop screen (see your dealer). Tube mics also produce what's called harmonic distortion, which we do not consciously hear but is responsible for what's called "tube warmth" (nothing to do with temperature!) And sounds quite intimate.

Condensers come in two other flavors: large diaphragm and small diaphragm. Large diaphragms are for when you want a big, intimate sound. Small diaphragms are said to be more accurate. However, the right one for you is the one that sounds best after making several-minute recordings with each and seeing if one is more fatiguing or if one just plain sounds better to you than the other. There are no rules. Both kinds are used for voiceover.

Many voice over artists prefert tube condensers over transistorized ones, but in all cases, what sounds best on your particular voice is what you should get. How to choose a mic? We'll get to that in a minute.

Ribbon

Here's the third type, in a class by itself: the ribbon microphone. While dynamics and condensers 'hear' with diaphragms, a ribbon microphone "hears" with a short, narrow, and very thin piece of corrugated aluminum suspended between two poles of a strong magnet.

You've seen the big, pickle-shaped microphones on Letterman's and Larry King's desks. They are RCA Model 77 ribbon microphones (used as props in this case), invented, I believe, in the 1930's. They were found everywhere for half a century. RCA quit making ribbons in the 1970's, and an enterprising genius named Wes Dooley bought all of RCA's stock ribbons (the ribbons themselves) and probably single-handedly re-introduced the ribbon microphone to the US market. His company is called AEA, and even the AEA logo is so designed as to closely resembled RCA's logo.

Ribbon mics are warm and smooth, jazz guys like to record with them, they're very nice for ladies' voices, and for certain male voices they add a nice satisfing depth. They also have a low output, which means that you have to crank up the input on your system to get a decent level from them. But raising the input results what's called the noise floor, and you can end up with a recording where you can hear hiss in the background. Wes and other ribbon mic manufacturers deal with this problem well, however, and some companies are making preamplifiers (talk with your dealer about this) specifically designed for ribbon mics.

Whether a ribbon – or any mic, for that matter – will sound good on your voice can not be known without actually trying one out. Ribbons are quite sensitive to moving air; if you blow into one to test to see if it's on, there's an excellent chance you'll destroy the ribbon. When ribbons were in common studio use, they were 'bagged' – a fitted bag was put over them – just to move them from place to place in the studio, to avoid ribbon damage from the air passing across them as they were moved .

Brands

Dynamics

There are a million brands, which of course goes for condensers, but not that many ribbon brands.

Not to worry, because there are several industry standards with which it's hard to go wrong. Here are the three most popular dynamics, and they probably outsell all the rest put together:

Electro-Voice RE20
Sennheiser 421U (see dealer about the specific one for your purpose)
Shure SM7
———
Shure SM57 / SM58 – less expensive and can be used if you do not have the money for the others

These mics, except for the last two, are in the $ 350- $ 700 range. Although each has a characteristic 'sound,' they are pretty close together in that respect. Each is well-made and dependable over the long haul, as in decades.

The Sennheiser, and, I believe, the SM7, have what are called proximate effects: if you get right on top of them they accentuate the lows. Many announcers in radio stations like to eat them; they want that deep "Voice of God" sound. They're better used at a distance of 6-10. "The RE20 is known for its lack of the procurement effect. Moreover, the RE20 was also made under a different model name, PL20. The finish color is a bit different, but it's the same mic. instruments and is no longer in production. I found a PL20 for $ 150 and am still jumping up and down, for the average used price of a PL20 or RE20 is double that.

For price-to-quality, none of these mics can be beat.

Condensers

Two flavors, here: transistorized and tube. As mentioned above, a tube condenser, like any well-designed tube device, generates overtones, which our ears perceive as "warmth." I say well-designed, because ever since tubes were "rediscovered" about 25 years ago, a lot of low-priced gear with a tube or two in them has hit the market, but they are not necessarily designed by people who understand exactly what they do nor how to design a tube circuit for best effect. This section deals with condensers in general.

Probably the most-recognized condenser mic name in the world is Neumann (pronounced NOI-man), and its most popular model is called a U-87. They sell new for around $ 3500, around $ 2000 or less used. A Neumann either sounds incredible on your voice or it sounds honky. It is the microphone National Public Radio uses exclusively.

It is found in just about every recording studio of any size. It will love your voice or hate it.

There are more expensive Neumanns, and a series of low-priced models prefixed with the letters TLM. A good number of voiceover artists use TLMs (<$ 1000); in my opinion they are not nearly as natural-sounding as the U-87 or a good dynamic. I had one but sold it after a few months. It could sound really good to your particular ear, however. I make this point because tastes different, and it is surely true that one voice can sound bad on a certain mic and superb on the next voice. So how does one choose? We'll get to that in a sec.

First, you must use a pop screen on a condenser. This device stops those blasts of air from non-vocal speech components, most notably "P" sounds, to which condensers are especially sensitive. Put your hand in front of your mouth and say "P." Feel the air? If that blast hits a condenser, let's just say you do not want to be wearing headphones at the time. Now, it's a good idea to talk across (at 45 degrees) not straight into, any microphone, because all of them will react badly to P pops; it is just that condensers REALLY react to them. Many RE20 users put pop screens in front of their mics even though most people do not use pop screens with dynamics.

Cheap condensers: a big no-no.

Cheap condensers are all over the market. You can buy a microphone with a nice spider shock mount and in a beautiful aluminum flight case all for $ 75. Um, I do not thin 'so, Looooxy. They are unnaturally bright at the top end and boomy at the bottom.

The really nefarious part of this is that, if you're just starting out, your ear is easily fooled into thinking that this sounds good. It does sound sort of exciting, but it is extremely fatiguing to listen to a recording made on one. As Phil Spector famously put it, "It's all in the middle." Americans like to crank up the treble and bass. If you have a mic delivering lots of highs and lows, and someone boosts the highs and lows on their music system, your work will sound worse than awful. Expensive microphones have rolled-off low ends and smooth high ends. Upon first using one you may even think, "Wow, what's the big deal about this thing? It's boring." No, it's natural. Unboosted highs and lows. In other words, it sounds like you, not you-through-a-microphone. That's as it should be.

Remember, you are competing with people who own high-end condensers, and that's how they sound. I'll take a $ 400 dynamic over a $ 400 condenser just about every time.

Ribbon microphones

I have experience with exactly one ribbon: an AEA R84. It sounds really good. It's an updated version of an …

Top 5 Qualities of a Good WordPress Developer

How do you identify the best WordPress developer from a pool of programmers? A dedicated WordPress developer is capable of pushing the boundaries, going beyond the basics and bringing innovations in the project they are assigned. Professional WordPress developers are always busy in researching more about the latest trends and technologies to remain ahead of their peers.

Here are the top 5 qualities of an efficient WordPress developer:

  1. Technical Skillset

A good WordPress developer will have apt knowledge of different technologies and be able to create a masterpiece. An ideal WordPress developer should have sound knowledge of PHP, MySQL, codebase on Trac and Xref and should able to set up a local development environment and run the nightly build. They must be well-versed with the technicalities of WordPress such as core, plugins as well as the different themes to be able to create a website, which would help you stay ahead in the competition.

  1. Learner’s Mindset

The versions of WordPress are steadily moving forward, and so is the environment. A good developer should keep up with the latest design, technology and security trends to build websites, which are stable and modern. An outdated look or a bugged portal will tarnish your brand image. A stagnant developer will cause stagnation in your business profits and in your image too.

  1. Attention and Self-Motivation

WordPress professionals need to continuously push their abilities and have a fair idea of almost all the aspects of this platform. WordPress offers a wide range of options such as plugins, themes, front-end design and e-commerce. Therefore, a developer has to have hands-on, specialized knowledge to figure out what would work best for a project. A self-motivated developer will ensure that his work stands out in the crowd and does not just make up the numbers.

  1. Solid Planning Skills

A brilliant developer would be able to sort out a chaos and make something out of nothing. However, lack of planning can become a serious problem – a directionless agenda can result in delays in project delivery and waste of time and energy. An efficient programmer will have a schedule in place and will outline goals – both big and small. They will break down tasks and create as well as adhere to timelines.

  1. Testing and Receiving Feedback

Thoroughly testing everything that is dispatched is an important skill of any WordPress developer. They should be sure whatever codes they write work across different browsers and operating systems. Every theme and plugin must be tested across different browsers to avoid last minute hassles. Asking for feedback is a good way to know whether what you’ve created makes sense and reacting positively to feedback shows maturity and dedication towards one’s creation. Your project is in good hands if you manage to hire a developer with these skills.

WordPress is an ever-evolving platform. The core team is always on their toes, trying new things and attempting to improve the existing functionalities.

NMLS CE Review of Kaplan and Proschools

In previous years the states regulated the mortgage industry. In 2011 the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) is in place under the federal government. A requirement to maintain a NMLS license is 8 hours per year of continuing education (CE).

Options for CE are classroom or an online course. I got an offer for a discount price of $99.95 from “Kaplan Real Estate Education” and decided to do that. Having done CE courses for insurance and mortgage licensing for the last five years with no problems, it seemed like a good option. The Kaplan NMLS CE course is divided into multiple sections. You view the material for a section and then take a take a 10 question quiz. You must get 100% on the quiz to move to the next section. If you get 90% or less you do it over until you get 100%. This is very irritating. Then when you finally get to the end of the eight hour course (more if you spend a lot of time on the quizzes) there is a 25 question final exam. Kaplan gives you two chances to get 75% or better on the exam. Some of questions are worded in a different way from the material presented. Other questions ask for statistical historical information that has no educational value. OK, I am making excuses for flunking the exam twice! The first time in five years I have had any problem with a CE exam. When I called to complain the Kaplan supervisor said I should pay again, do another 8 hours of CE class, and then they would let me try their stupid test two more times….with no certainty of getting a CE certificate. When I asked about a refund I was told that they do not give refunds.

A couple days later a representative called from Proschools to see if I wanted to do their CE course. The rep said they had a satisfaction guarantee. She also said that students rarely had a problem with the exam, and that they allowed unlimited attempts if needed. Preschools offered a discount that made the cost around $100 and I decided to give it a try. The material seemed to be geared a little more towards useful information rather than arcane historical data. Proschools has a quiz after each section but there was usually only two to four questions. This made it much easier to get 100% on the quiz. The quiz offered a choice of a practice or “final” mode. You have to do the “final” quiz, even if you get 100% on the practice mode that has the same questions. It is best to skip the practice and go straight to the “final” quiz. You get multiple chances for the final quiz if needed. Then came the dreaded final exam. The government requires the course provider to require 70% or better to pass. (Why does Kaplan require 75%? So more people will flunk and have to repeat their course?) I was short on time and rushed through the exam in about five minutes. I got 24 of 25 correct for 96%. See, I R smart!!

From my experience this year I would suggest Proschools if you want an online course. Ask if they are offering any discounts and they will give you the code to use for that, if it is available. Of course the quality of the course is far more important than a small difference in the cost.

Discovering the Secrets Behind Highly Ranked Websites

In my last article I spoke about some of the very basic elements every well-optimized website needs to have in order to be ranked higher up in the search engines’ listings. To sum up that article very briefly, you need to make sure that your meta tags reflect your website’s content appropriately in terms that individuals might use when searching for your website. Also, pay close attention to the titles of each of your web pages. Too many people settle for using the same title for each page. Each page needs a different title utilizing different and appropriate keywords.

This article will take that basic understanding of the art behind search engine optimization to another level. Once you realize the importance of keywords and meta tags, you probably figured out that many of the major search engines rely much less heavily on keywords (they’ve been overused by spammers!) and look more closely at your website content.

“What?” you say. “I just spent all that time researching keywords and injecting them throughout my website!” Well, good. You need to take that first step in order to be able to continue further down the SEO path. Yes, Google, MSN, and Yahoo nearly ignore (yes, ignore!) the meta keywords, they don’t ignore the content in your web pages. And that content needs to be chock full of keywords.

Try this little bit of SEO research. Put yourself in the mind of one of your potential customers. Open your search engine of choice (you should probably be choosing one of the biggies because your customers most likely are) and search for your company using some carefully chosen keywords. Don’t use your website address. While searching for your exact website does provide some important information, that isn’t the focus of this little experiment.

Look carefully at the listings that come up. Who is ranked first? What is in the description next to the website? What keywords keep showing up again and again in your competition’s listings? Now, click on a couple of the top rankings. Look at how their website is designed. Do several keywords jump out at you immediately? They should. Take note of these keywords and their placement. Look at the code behind their websites (with different browsers this happens differently- usually it’s under a menu called view source or view page info). Inspect their meta tags and descriptive keywords.

Your head should be buzzing right now with ideas for ways to improve your website. Remember, search engine optimization is a step by step process. Like many things, it is never done. Right when you think everything is looking great, you’ll learn about yet another way to enhance your website’s ranking. Keep moving forward- a step at a time. Before you know it, you’ll see your website in Google’s top ten!

Self Defense Weapons – What Is The Best Weapon For Self Defense?

If you are thinking of purchasing a gun, or other “self-protection” device such as pepper spray or an alarm, then you are obviously concerned about your personal safety. You know it is essential to learn how to defend yourself, now more than ever! Today, not only do you have to worry about criminals, but now terrorists as well! What is this world coming to? Would you know what to do?

You may be thinking, “Well, I’ll just get a gun!” Unfortunately, real-world tests have shown that overall , weapons (or other “self-defense” products) are often ineffective when it comes to self-defense. Why?

There are many factors that contribute, but the main reason weapons are ineffective is, if the weapon is not in your hand at the moment of attack, you will never get the chance to use it! But, the law does not allow you to walk around with a gun in your hand, and most studies show that people soon forget to carry the various types of self-protection devices they purchase.

Even if you have a stun gun or pepper spray in your purse or pocket, if caught by surprise, you won’t have a chance to get it out before you get decked! Mace does you no good if it is still in the purse that just got snatched out of your hand! Tests prove that 90% of the time, you will never get the chance to reach for your weapon before you are hurt too severely to use it.

FBI statistics and Police reports from all over the country show that in more than half of all instances where the victim was able to get to a “weapon” (usually sprays are mentioned), the attacker knocked it out of their hand before they could use it. Police files are filled with tens of thousands of incidents of weapons taken away from the victim and used against them! It is estimated that almost one third of all gunshot victims are shot with their own gun! The figures are even higher when it comes to stun-guns and sprays.

This doesn’t even include all of the incidences where the victim shoots themselves! Accidental discharge is the leading cause of gunshot wounds in both crime and non-crime reports. You may think that wouldn’t happen to you, but the reports prove that it happens to even experienced gun owners.

I know of a Police officer, even after extensive training , the first time he tried to use Mace against an unruly suspect, ended up spraying himself.

Unfortunately, most people have little or no training as to the safe and proper use of the weapons in their possession. Inadequate, or even improper training is the leading cause of accidental discharge involving guns, stun-guns and sprays. What do you think will happen when they attempt to use that weapon under the stress of a real attack?

There are literally millions of incidents reported where the victim couldn’t get the weapon to work at all, mainly because of inadequate training! Even the most basic principles of weapon usage are often overlooked by owners. The figures are stunning (pun intended) of the number of incidents of stun guns that didn’t work when needed because of dead batteries!

There are thousands upon thousands of reports of guns that wouldn’t fire because the safety was on, and the user didn’t know, forgot, or was too panicked to figure it out in time. In at least one incident I am aware of, the victim couldn’t get his weapon to fire before the criminal took it away from him. Lucky for him, the criminal couldn’t figure it out either.

Defective or Fraudulent Products

I’m sure you have purchased products that didn’t quite work as advertised. How can you be sure that the pepper spray you buy will work as well as advertised, if at all? How will you test it? Spray yourself? Spray a friend? We’re not talking about perfume! I doubt you will get any volunteers to help you.

When the criminal attacks, it is too late to find out that the pepper spray is really just vinegar, or that the 10 million volt stun-gun doesn’t deliver much more of a shock than shuffling across the carpet and touching a doorknob.

If you buy a police radar detector that is guaranteed to work, but doesn’t, the result is a speeding ticket. If you buy “self-protection weapons” that don’t work, the result can be severe injury or even death. Relying on someone else’s guarantee is only a false sense of security that will only have bad results!

If you are serious about Self-Protection, your best self defense weapon is your mind . If you think about what has just been discussed, you will realize that ‘weapons’ will only help you in ideal situations, and even then, you need to keep a clear head to be able to use them properly.

But, crime doesn’t happen in ideal situations!

Being able to think clearly, and knowing what to do, is your best weapon when it comes to self-defense. Second best is being able to use your feet. Now, that doesn’t mean to start kicking! It means that at the first sign of trouble, you need to RUN! Escape is always a much better self-defense tactic than getting into a struggle or a fight.

However, if you can’t get away, your body is your best self-defense weapon! Since you cannot always have a weapon in your hand, it is essential that you know how to defend yourself without weapons. But mindless flailing against an attacker does you no good at all. You need to learn the most vulnerable points on the human body. But even that isn’t enough if you don’t know the most effective ways to strike them. You need to learn how to kick, not just where to kick.

Everyone should at least take a basic self-defense course .

What about Martial Arts?

Traditional Martial Arts are great for disciple, self-confidence, and exercise. They can help to produce the correct mindset needed when faced with a self-defense situation. But it usually takes several years to become proficient in the more complex techniques.

If you have the time to commit to a long-term training program, by all means, a martial art will provide the most comprehensive training. However, just as in choosing a self-defense weapon, you must do your homework before choosing a martial arts program. Many don’t deliver the comprehensive training they promise, and most don’t train you for realistic self-defense.

Far too many martial arts programs focus greatly on sports and competition. Sports and competition oriented martial arts are worthless as self-defense. They teach you to follow rules, and for the most part, there are no rules in a street fight. If you are conditioned to follow the rules, you can’t do what is necessary in a dangerous situation. In fact, you will probably do the wrong thing, and get yourself hurt or even killed.

Seek out a training program that focuses almost exclusively on realistic self-defense scenario training.

Knowing how to handle yourself when confronted with violence is your only insurance against becoming a victim, or just another statistic in a police report. You have car insurance, home-owner’s insurance, life insurance, health insurance…

What insurance do you have against being the victim of a violent crime? That type of insurance is only available through proper training. A long-term self-defense program offers the most comprehensive training, and therefore, the best opportunity to learn to handle almost any situation that may occur. However, if you don’t have the time to commit to a long-term program, at least some form of weaponless self-defense training is better than none.

Summary

If you are serious about self-protection, your best bet is to first learn weaponless self-defense. Then, if you still want to purchase a weapon, do your homework before choosing the best weapon for you, and don’t just read the instructions that come with it and think you are ready to use it.

  • Take a class on how to use it effectively, how to handle it safely, and how to maintain it so it works when you need it.
  • Take regular refresher courses so you don’t forget anything about the weapon.
  • Follow all maintenance procedures on a regular basis.

Your best bet is to learn weaponless self-defense and get the best weapon for you. Remember, you will never feel safe until you have all the tools necessary for self-protection. And the most important weapon of all is your own mind and body!

Why to Use a Metro Cab Service

There are number of reasons that you may want to use a metro cab service and here are some of the most common times when you may find yourself in need of them.

Getting home from a night out

Using a metro cab service is perfect for getting home safely after a night out. While some night time public transport, such as buses or trains may be operating in your area, they are likely to be few and far between. Even if they are operating, it can quite often encourage some of the more colourful characters and events, which can be frightening and even dangerous for some people.

Taking a metro cab service will remove this possible danger, by ensuring that you are dropped to your door by a fully regulated driver, with the knowledge that you will arrive back in a prompt and safe manner.

Particularly if you have been drinking, under no circumstance should you be trying to operate a car, even if you believe yourself to be in good enough shape. Along with endangering your life and others, you can also end up with a heavy fine or worse.

Travelling to and from the airport

While there may be other options available for travelling to or from an airport, none can boast the hassle-free approach that a metro cab service will provide. Able to pick you and your bags up and deliver you straight to your destination, there is no need to face a long and stressful trip on public transport with all of your bags.

Particularly so if you are arriving into an airport for the first time, the last thing that you want to be doing is trying to work out how to get from the airport to your destination, while most likely suffering from jet lag. If you are arriving in a new country then you may also want to take the safety of the metro cab service, as airports can be a honey pot for scam artists and other minor criminals.

Running late

If you are running late for work, or there has been a problem with the public transport that you would usually take, then using a metro cab service makes sense. With experienced drivers who are able to take the most efficient and least congested routes, you can arrive at your destination far earlier than with other alternatives.

There are several other instances that make metro services imperative for the travelers and the commuters.

Coffee Facts From The City of Seattle!

I was recently watching an episode of Bizarre Foods that had a lot of interesting facts and information on the Seattle coffee scene. People in Seattle take coffee very seriously, and they should! It has quite an interesting history there and a lot of fun facts. Today I will cover some the cool things I learned from watching this foodie show starring Andrew Zimmern.

First, Seattle is home to the very first Starbucks ever! Starbucks opened its first store in 1971 in the Pike Place Market, that is located in downtown Seattle. The original Starbucks location decided because the Market is a historic district with design guidelines, the store retains its original look from the 1970’s! It is a pretty cool looking place and I would love to visit this store someday. However, as the show pointed out Seattle is also known for all of its Mom & Pop coffee shops! That is what really makes the city an interesting coffee-lovers place to visit.

One of the most impressive coffee shops in Seattle is Seattle Coffee Works. Seattle Coffee Works showcases a cafe and a tasting room. It is a place known for experiencing and experimenting with coffee in its richly diverse forms and varieties. They call the tasting room their “Slow Bar” and the Slow Bar is a place to explore if you have a serious passion for coffee and new discoveries. They like to compare such as a French-pressed Costa Rican to a siphoned Tanzanian to a World Blend Espresso Blend that includes South and Central American, East African, and Indonesian coffees. This is a coffee experience that is truly one of a kind!

Seattle is also home to Sebastian Simsch, who is known for making coffee the old-fashioned way, by using what is called the vacuum coffee-making method. It is a very precise art that utilizes water at perfect temperatures, testing tubes, and a whole lot of skill. Just watching this man make coffee is exciting. On the show he brewed a cup of Colombia Cup of Excellence Coffee where the beans were harvested from a small family farm and cost over $100 per pound! Mr. Zimmern said it was quite possibly the best coffee he has ever had!

Seattle is also home to the makers of “The Slayer” espresso machine that costs upwards of $20,000! It changes the flavors of coffee by simply changing the pressure at which it is brewed. If you are a true coffee lover, like me, Seattle may be on your next vacation destination wish list!

My Great Personal Experience Staying in Hong Kong

Whenever I am required to travel, I am the most loved any time the location is actually Hong Kong. Therefore unnecessary to declare I have frequented it a lot more than simply a competent of instances. Throughout just about all my personal trips, Mandarin Oriental has often been my own personal favorite. I call to mind an event a couple of years in the past in one of my travels. My airline flight ended up being overdue and I arrived in Hong Kong very late in the night. When I landed, I was worried about my hotel reservation.

When I turned on my mobile phone and locked on to roaming, one of the texts I received had been from Mandarin telling me that they heard bout the delay and also had rescheduled my check in and since this was very late, now there would be a chauffeur ready for me when I departed the arrival lounge. Sure enough as I exited, I saw a hand poster with my name.

Inside of moments of getting out of the arrival hall, the cheuffer whisked me through the crowds and to the chauffeur driven car and drve me personally efficiently to the hotel. In the car, the cheuffer called forward in order to alert the hotel I was on the way. To my absolute amazement, the Hotel manager was waiting and whisked me straight up to my room. There had been absolutely no need to stop at the reception to check in. They told me that they would hand check-in the next morning because I should have been tired. As well as I was. The Mandarin Hotel is the greatest I could ever need.

Hong Kong is probably the earth's most diverse holiday location. It is a mix of commerce, heritage, customs, a food paradise and also a play ground for the youthful soul. For young children along with grown ups it provides activities abound.

My first time in Disneyland held unexpected prospects for me and I was not sure if this was a kid's thing or a family experience. Believe it or not, it turned out that Disneyland hotel ended up being my haven. In the event that you believe you have experienced lavishness, you have not seen anything at all yet till you've spent the night at the Disneyand Hotel. I could not help but feel as if I boarded a 5-star ship that transported me through the realities of this planet to the getaway splendor of a faraway planet.

During the entire vacation, while my family members enjoyed the activities and also the jolt of childhood as well as innocently wrapped within sophistication as well as comfort, I took the occasion to relax and get in touch with my own childhood.

At some other periods, to get the reason of selection, I do patronize other hotels. One of my personal other favorites is The Peninsula Hotel. This is the definition relating old school luxury, along with chauffeur driven Bentleys as well as Baroque era sculptures, no expense is sparred to make guests feel the opulence of colonial hospitality.

The hotel is about cradling every visitor in the lap of opulent luxury. From the ceilings in the actual lobby to your bath areas in each of the suites, almost everything is actually designed in order to make you remember that you are well worth it.

Antique Car Museum Guide – Virginia Car Museums

You don’t have to go far in the state of Virginia to find an antique car museum. Virginia is home to at least eight (or nine, if you stretch your definition of “car” to include tanks!). Here is a listing of all the vintage car collections I can find information on in Virginia.

The Car and Carriage Caravan Museum at the Luray Caverns traces the history of transportation in America. Items on display include horse-drawn carriages, coaches, wagons, and early automobiles. The automotive collection includes an 1892 Benz, a 1908 Baker Electric, a 1913 Stanley Steamer, and Rudolph Valentino’s 1925 Rolls Royce. You must purchase an admission to the Luray Caverns to get in to the museum. (540) 743 – 6551

The Roaring Twenties Antique Car Museum in Hood features 32 vintage cars on display, mostly from the 1920s and 1930s. The collection includes examples from Carter, Star, Stephen, Cleveland, Hupmobile, Paige, Nash, Essex, Packard and Cadillac. There are also horse-drawn carriages, old farm implements, and period advertising on display. (540) 948 – 6290

The Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke has cars and other vehicles from nearly every decade of the twentieth century. The museum focuses primarily on the railroad industry, but also has an aviation and aerospace section. (540) 342 – 5670

Fred’s Car Museum in Appomattox holds more than sixty five antique cars, dating from 1906 up to 1980. Highlights of the collection include a 1906 Schacht, a 1914 Saxton, a 1920 Piano Box Buggy, a 1936 Packard, and a very rare 1939 Lincoln V-12 limo. (434) 352-0606

The Accomack-Northampton Antique Car Museum in Parksley features a 1922 Durant, a 1935 Auburn, a 1956 Thunderbird, and lots of automobilia. (757) 665 – 6161

Eavers Classic Cars and Collectibles Museum in Staunton has over twenty classic cars on display, including a genuine 1965 Shelby AC Cobra, Elvis Presley’s last Cadillac, and a 1959 Devin sports car. (540) 337 – 1126

Old Cranks Motor Car Museum in Galax has a unique assortment of antique cars including a one-cylinder Orient Buckboard, a Detroit Electric and a Stanley Steamer. (276) 236 – 5114.

The Wood Brothers Racing Museum in Stuart covers 58 years of racing history. You can view the 1971 Purolator Mercury Cyclone, a 1989 Neil Bonnet Thunderbird, and a 1937 Glen Wood Ford Coach. There are also trophies, racing suits and helmets, and tons of other racing memorabilia. (276) 694 – 2121

The AAF Tank Museum in Danville doesn’t have antique cars, but I couldn’t leave them out! Their collection includes 117 tanks and artillery pieces, plus over twenty thousand other military related artifacts dating all the way back to 1509! (434) 836-5323

Quite a variety for the automotive enthusiast to choose from if you are passing through Virginia, or live nearby. As always, call ahead for information on hours and holiday schedules before making the trip.

5 Sexy Dresses From The 2017 Grammy’s

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards brought out the biggest names in music, and with it sex appeal has hit an all-time high for music’s biggest night. We will review the sexiest dresses from this years red carpet. Ladies wore everything from super seductive high-end designer dresses to vintage-inspired gowns. Let take a look at who stunned the crowd.

Jennifer Lopez stunned the crowd in a pink gown by Ralph & Russo. It’s vintage style showed class and sex appeal all at the same time. The slit to show of her legs along with it being sleeveless and showing off her mid-drift had the men in crowd going goo-goo eyed.

Celine Dion wore Zuhair Murad‘s curve hugging long emerald green dress with a high leg slit, with long sleeves and a plunging neckline. Of course you must mention her emerald green matching Gucci sandals and Dvani earrings.

Lady GaGA brings sex appeal to a whole new level in a skin-bearing look wearing black leather mini shorts and a black barely there top that only covered her shoulders and part of her breasts with a black ruffle/feather sleeve. This was by far the most provocative look of the Grammy’s.

Kristin Cavallari has a head turner in a plunging black dress with a tulle accent. This low cut dress showed off more than enough skin to make this list of five of sexy dresses from the 2017 Grammy’s.

Demi Lovato dress was something you would imagine a sex goddess would have wore a thousand years ago. The white stitching of the dress left many little holes throughout with gorgeous little rings holding the stitching together. Although the dress cover her from toe to chin it left much to the imagination. This is what Demi said,”There is nothing wrong with being confident. But there is a super fine line between “confident” and “the guts to wear an elaborate cat’s cradle that barely covers her pubis,” she definitely showed that she is confident and has guts.

These three outfits yes we will call them outfits because what Lady Gaga wore couldn’t be considered a dress, all show major sexy appeal. Every year different celebrities push the limits while others find a more classical medium. Either way all are there to make a statement and soak up the spotlight. With the Oscar’s only weeks away we are sure to see new sexy dresses worn by today’s diva’s.

Theme Travel Around Switzerland – Wine and Cuisine – Part 2

Valais. Delicious wines by the Rhone River

Sometimes the sun turns Valais into a Mediterranean country. This is one of the reasons why there are so many wonderful specialties produced here.

None of the other 22 cantons can boast of such culinary richness as Valais. The reason for this is its special microclimate and various types of soil. The canton combines territories of arid Mediterranean climate and Alpine grounds. No wonder why the highest European vineyard (1150 meters above the sea level) is located here, in Visperterminen.

Valais is the large wine-making canton. Two fifths of all the Swiss wines are produced here. Those are around 50 various wine types, including the old ones which you can hardly find outside Valais (such as Petite Arvine, Amigne, Humagne blanc or Humagne rouge). The most famous types of wine are Chasselas (made of Fendant) and Pinot noir. Syrah, produced at the upper arms of the Rhone River, is also getting popular.

One place to visit here is Château de Villa renowned for its wine cellar with a unique collection of more than 500 wine types. All of them are served in a special pleasant atmosphere. The castle is located 15 minutes walk from Sierre station.

A good starting point for your trip around Valais is its capital, Sion.

Ticino. Excellent wines in the south of Switzerland.

In the south of Switzerland, where they speak Italian, you will find palm-tress and rich Merlot wine. During the old times the lands between Gotthard and Lombardy were very poor. Food served in local cafes and restaurants was invented by the paupers of the past. Many delicacies that are now well acknowledged and evaluated, were prepared of the poor assortment of products local people had. Such were polenta, risotto or pesce in carpione – marinaded and grilled fish. Rabbit, salami, mortadella ticinese (meat cut), cicitt sausages and sweet pie called Torta di pane are classic local delicacies. Some years ago roasted chestnuts regained their popularity. Excellent wines are also produced here – for instance, local red wine is a true specialty. Those who used to love Bordeaux are now attracted by Merlot del Ticino from the barrel, with its distinguished taste. Less than one fifth of local wines are produced from other grape types. This list of wines includes Bondola, Pinot noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Chardonnay, Chasselas, Sauvignon and Semillon. Merlot bianco is especially distinguished.

When in Ticino, visit Fattoria l’Amorosa restaurant located on a 15-hectare terrace between Gudo and Sementina. Three hectares of its territory are occupied with Merlot, Cabernet franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdit vineyards. Local wine cellar is placed in a rock and serves as an excellent storage for wines.

The capital of Ticino is Bellinzona.

Graubünden. Where the wind comforts vineyards.

In Graubünden they speak German, Italian and Romansh. The capital is Chur. This mountainous canton was greatly influenced by its neighbours from the north and the south. That is why there are so many delicacies here. Vine (including Blauburgunder (Pinot noir), Riesling and Chardonnay) wouldn’t grow here without warm winds. The most famous vine types are grown in Malans, Jenins, Maienfeld and Fläsch, but the only original local wine is Completer. Nowadays wine-makers produce such wines as Pinot gris and blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Caranoir.

Typical dishes, like all around the Alpine regions, are simple rural ones. However, they are very popular with tourists. Traditional Graubünden dried meat, cheese, barley soup, pizokel are delicious.

Alter Torkel wine bar is located 5 minutes from Jenins in the very heart of its vineyards. Vast choice of local wines, typical Graubünden snacks, and a small wine-making museum.

Cheap Seized SUV’s Auctions – Buy Quality SUV at Your Dream Price!

If you are looking to buy new or used sport utility vehicles or SUV’s, you will find this information useful. We know that SUV’s are usually quite expensive. But what if I tell you that you can buy SUV’s from auctions at bargain prices and the vehicles are only a few years old? You might have seen the ads promoting the seized SUV’s auctions that are available in every state and wonder where the seized SUV’s came from.

The truth is there are hundreds of seized SUV’s auctions that are usually held by police departments, government, IRS, DEA or some financial institutions but somehow a lot of people still don’t know and have let the car dealers take advantage of it for years. The car dealers buy the used SUV’s from these auctions and resell them to you. Anyway the SUV’s auctions are now open to the public and anyone can attend.

The SUV’s are seized by the police officers or some financial institutions from drug dealers or people who have financial difficulties. Actually these secret auctions are the best way for you to buy a quality SUV’s at the lowest possible price. The Police Departments & Government want to get rid of the vehicles as soon as possible and convert them into cash quickly. It costs a lot of money to store the seized SUV’s and keep them in good condition and the vehicles would continue to depreciate in value.

Seized SUV’s Auctions usually sell the vehicles ‘as is, and where is’ which means that what you see is what you buy, and what you buy is exactly what you get.

Advantages of Seized SUV’s Auctions

If you are worried that the vehicles might have been seized from violent criminals, then I can tell you that you don’t have to worry at all. These vehicles are usually seized because of a loan payment default, or driving with license suspended, or they could be the property of individuals or companies engaged in fraud, which means they are either newer models or in very good condition.

Disadvantages of Seized SUV’s Auctions

The big disadvantage is you don’t really know how long the vehicles have been sitting in storage or in a garage without maintenance. It’s possible that some of them could be there for a year without getting checked. The other thing is they also do not come with any warranties. To participate in the auctions you must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving license. One big disadvantage of seized SUV’s auctions is that they can be time consuming. It can take a lot of time to locate the auctions, register and deal with all the paperwork, etc. However, there is a solution for that. It will make your life much easier if you join one of the car auction sites on the internet because they have gathered all the information needed for you. What you have to do is just select the vehicle online and enjoy bidding on your new SUV’s.

What will you get at the online seized SUV’s auctions?

o New & Used SUV start bidding as low as $100 or less.
